We wanted to let you in on one of the biggest secrets out there...

It is the crazy mark up on Wu Lung Slimming Tea... right now if you google the words "Slimming Tea" - you will find nearly hundreds of different companies advertising on the right hand side of GOOGLE.

Have you ever wondered what that was?

It is paid advertisements that these companies pay google every time you click on the link. Some of these titles are ridiculous such as:

"Hear What Oprah Winfrey Has To Say About Wu Long Tea" "Beware of Fake Oolong Teas" or my favorite: "Wu Long Tea Exposed - Don't Buy Until You Read My Reviews"

The last one uses scare tactics to get you to click on their site. Then they disguise themselves as a site that "Reviews" the teas. What they don't tell you is that they made deals with ALL of the sites to get a referral fee if you eventually purchase through any of the companies.

(it's like if Consumer Reports got kick backs for the products they recommend).

Here's the thing - the tea DOES actually work (but just like kombucha, its not an end all be all miracle).

>>WHAT'S IN A NAME<<

First off, Wu Long is the same tea as Oolong (they changed the names to try to make their product stand out). As you might already know from our tea profiles, the word "Lung" means Dragon. "Wu", means Black. However these words when translated many years ago changed from Wu Lung to Oo Long, and then eventually the two words were combined to Oolong. But still, the name Black Dragon tea does sound pretty cool huh?

Oolong tea is a semi fermented tea (where as Black Tea is fully fermented and Green Tea is slightly fermented...Oolong is in between the two types).

This semi-fermentation process helps the tea to retain a strong level of nutrients and beneficial anti-oxidants that work to rid your body of dangerous free radical chemicals that can cause breakdowns at the cellular level.

Oolong tea provides an essential amount of Polyphenols, which are compounds that curb these free radicals to boost your immune system and the production of white blood cells, improve the functioning of your organs, and increase blood flow. On a personal note, Oolong teas are my favorite type of tea to have with a meal. (I also love green teas, but need to be in the mood for them). Oolong tea is also more gentle on the stomach versus black teas and certianly coffee.

You will see pictures of celebrities (notice that none of these recognizable celebrities endorse this specific product, but they are meant to fool you in associating them to their product). The web sites and marketing tactics are designed by professionals that charge the company a fortune. The company simply passes on the cost to you. Take for example this mini course. I am very proud of it, but I certainly could have paid someone a bunch of money to have pretty pictures and better wording (by the way thanks guys for the grammar and spelling error heads up, keep em coming and I will continue to improve the course!). Anyway, if I paid someone it would be very hard to offer it for its current price.

+ WE DON'T PURCHASE EXPENSIVE ADVERTISING: We also don't bid on those high cost Google adwords (some of those guys cost up to 5 bucks). We would rather give you the 5 bucks off the price.

+IT'S WHAT'S INSIDE THAT COUNTS: Our tea is the same (if not higher), quality tea as the other sites that are charging over twice as much. But I will say this:

Their packaging is much much better than ours. They have really fancy designs. They paid graphic designers tons of cash on the shape of specific letters and certain colors to make you guys feel more inclined to drink and buy the tea. Their boxes are pretty cool too. Boy, it's a good thing that GetKombucha.com is a kombucha and tea company, cause we would get slaughtered if we were a box design company.



Here's the thing. Our packaging is VERY MODEST. Our teas on the other hand are OUTSTANDING! When we started this company we thought long and hard how we should position and market ourselves. At the end of the day we thought to sell exceptional products without all the frills (ever been to Trader Joe's?). That's what WE like when we purchase stuff. So we thought that there must be other people out there who prefer just to pay for what they want.
